CAIRO, EGYPT / RankWire.AI / – From January to July 2026, Egyptians abroad sent home approximately $29.7 billion in remittances, according to the Central Bank of Egypt. This figure marks a 28.1% rise from around $23.2 billion a year earlier, adding about $6.5 billion during the first seven months compared to the same period in 2025. The data reflects funds remitted by Egyptians working overseas, with the increase following the record level reported for the entire year of 2025.

Remittances in July alone reached roughly $4.5 billion, representing a 20% increase from about $3.8 billion in July 2025. Earlier months also showed year-on-year growth, with January inflows totaling approximately $3.5 billion, up from $2.9 billion the previous year. February remittances rose to roughly $3.8 billion from $3.0 billion in February 2025. Combined, January and February contributed around $7.3 billion to the total for the first seven months, exceeding last year’s combined figure by about $1.4 billion.
The broader fiscal-year figures also exhibited higher remittance inflows, with Egypt receiving approximately $47.3 billion during fiscal 2025/2026, a 29.6% increase from $36.5 billion in the prior year. June 2026 brought in about $4.2 billion, compared to $3.6 billion in June 2025, reflecting a monthly rise of 15.6%. The fiscal year spanned from July 2025 through June 2026, while the recent seven-month total covers January through July 2026. The fiscal-year increase in dollar terms was roughly $10.8 billion.
Remittance inflows surge across periods
Higher inflows were also recorded in calendar-year data, with remittances reaching about $41.5 billion in 2025, a 40.5% increase from approximately $29.6 billion in 2024, amounting to a gain of roughly $11.9 billion. In the first half of fiscal 2025/2026, inflows totaled about $22.1 billion, compared to $17.1 billion during the same period the previous year, marking a 29.6% rise.
December 2025 saw a monthly record of about $4.0 billion, up 24% from $3.2 billion a year earlier. By January 2026, cumulative fiscal-year remittances had reached $25.6 billion, compared with $20.0 billion in the same period of the prior fiscal year. The Central Bank of Egypt reported about $29.4 billion through February, a 28% increase over roughly $23.0 billion during the same eight months. December’s year-on-year rise was about $800 million.
Spring figures extend remittance growth
Remittance totals continued to grow in spring, with July through March of fiscal 2025/2026 reaching approximately $34.9 billion, a 32% increase from the $26.4 billion reported during the same period last year. By April, the total had risen to about $39.2 billion, a 33.2% increase from $29.4 billion, with April alone generating roughly $4.3 billion versus $3.0 billion in April 2025. The monthly increase was 44%, or about $1.3 billion.
By May, fiscal remittances had reached approximately $43.1 billion, up 31.2% from $32.8 billion a year earlier, with May inflows totaling about $3.9 billion compared to roughly $3.4 billion in May 2025. The 11-month total increased by about $10.3 billion. The fiscal year concluded at $47.3 billion after June, and July pushed the 2026 calendar-year total to $29.7 billion. All recent comparisons—monthly, calendar-year, and fiscal-year—remained above their respective previous year’s figures.
